The Reading Mindset:
Reading Like a Thinker; Thinking Like a Reader

Meet Alexia Safieh

Watch Alexia Safieh's TED Talk about how reading impacted her.  Alexia is from the Latin American country Guatemala in Central America.
Post Your Responses to the following Questions on the Padlet Embedded Below

  1. Can you relate to any part of Alexia's story?  If so, which parts?
  2. What is your personal story with reading?
  3. What goals might you have for yourself as a reader this year?

What are the actual benefits of reading?

Directions: Read two of the articles below.  Create a mini poster advertising 4 benefits of reading based on what you learn.  Include the benefit plus at least two bullet points with supporting details (those details that support the benefit).  Use your creativity to decorate the poster in a way that highlights your ideas. As an alternative to creating a poster on paper, you can sign up for a canva account and create something there or use design elements in Google Docs, like clipart, word art, and so on.

See a sample of such a poster in the form of the infographic below the list of articles (sources). By the way, you may use some of the ideas from this infographic in your own poster.
